Angel Lisa had its humble beginnings in the Central American country of Belize as a seaweed farming project in Placencia Village, located in southern Belize. Commercial fishing has traditionally served as a major source of employment for the coastal communities in Belize. Overfishing and climate change have severely damaged the marine stocks, causing the local fishermen to struggle for their livelihoods. Seaweed farming provides the local fishermen with a sustainable alternative to the destructive practice of commercial fishing.
